Trip to Kan-irag (April 17, 2011)

This has been long over due, nevertheless, it is better late than never.
I first took notice of the beauty of Kan-irag Nature Park from the blogs that I saw. Its vast area, green flora and the natural resources abounding it added to the excitement. I planned for a long time, until one day the opportunity came just in my front. Thanks to my former professor (atiba.blogspot.com) whose interest was also awakened by the posted sceneries [plus the fact that he got his camera with him, perfect opportunity…hehehe].

The trip was full of unexpected events, we started the day by attending a service at Ayala, had lunch and talked for a long time that we have not noticed the time. We reached JY Square at around 3pm, bought some snacks and then negotiated with several persistent and witty motorcycle drivers. Finally, we got our ride and off we went.

Almost half way to the trip, the motorcycle I rode with had a flat tire, so we stopped while the driver looked for the nearest vulcanizing shop. To pass the time over, we roamed our eyes around and to our amazement witness a breathtaking view of green highland mountains with grazing cows. We took pictures even in the middle of road. I can’t thank God enough for giving us such a present. “Don’t ever say that its like in a foreign country”, he said, so I decided to shut my mouth up and smiled for the picture taking. Indeed, we should be proud for wonders like these and take some time to appreciate them—a medium for relaxation, union with nature and thanksgiving for the blessings received.

However, when we arrived at the nature park site, we discovered that it was already closed since 2010 for maintenance. The bloggers failed to mention that, but it did not detract us from enjoying the trip. We took pictures on the entrance and took a little walk. We took off to go to experience the zipline a few kilometers ahead but the drivers suggested not to proceed for safety reasons. We passed by Gov. Leyson Park and savored the taste of freshly cooked and very huge and sweet corn. I even bought some as pasalubong for my housemates.

We ended the day with a sumptuous dinner at AA Bbq—full of smiles + full of fun + full of memories + full stomach = perfect day!
