I Was Here

We always here people saying that in this world we only pass but once, so we should maximize our time and do good deeds so that our limited stay will not be wasted. Indeed we all want to make a difference. I have read once a novel which used the word ADSUM, translated as "I am present here", so I thought that this is the appropriate word to describe what I want to be and what I want to do. This has sort of become both my vision and mission, to leave a mark in everything I do and touch every people I encounter, in a subtle, natural and unconscious way. I mean to say, doing good things without anticipating anything from others. Like in a show, it is just doing your part or role the way your character should act even if you the people only see your shadow reflected on the wall.   I do not have the extrovert personality, so I do not mingle much with others or go to parties, I'd rather be with a few whom I can talk from dusk until dawn. I prefer sensible conversations, nature tripping and doing ordinary things extraordinarily. I also have my ups and downs. I admit that I  have a choleric temper but I have controlled it since I have learned of "The Secret" and the importance of compassion to others. I pray, I laugh, I cry, I am present here.

One author once said, "I sing not because I am happy, but I am happy because I sing." Most of the times, we find ourselves happy by singing our favorite songs or the songs which inspire us or the songs which relaxes us. Even listening to them creates a sense of calmness and serenity. I may not have a good singing voice but what matters is the expression and message you convey in the song that you play or sing. Here is a song by Lady Antebellum entitled I was Here. This was introduced to me by a classmate because she told me that whenever she hears this song she remembers adsum. She was right, the lyrics and the melody is a perfect epitome of what I personally want to express. Very inspiring, I hope you like it!

I Was Here
lyrics
Songwriters: Burr, Gary S; Scott, Hillary Dawn; Shaw, Victoria;

You will notice me
I'll be leaving my mark like initials carved
In an old oak tree, you wait and see

Maybe I'll write like Twain wrote
Maybe I'll paint like Van Gogh
Cure the common cold, I don't know
But I'm ready start 'cause I know in my heart

I wanna do something that matters, say something different
Something that sets the whole world on its ear
I wanna do something better with the time I've been given
I wanna try to touch a few hearts in this life
Leave nothing less than something that says ?I was here?

I will prove you wrong
If you think I'm all talk, you're in for a shock
'Cause this dream's too strong and before too long

Maybe I'll compose symphonies
Maybe I'll fight for world peace
'Cause I know it's my destiny
To leave more than a trace of myself in this place!

I wanna do something that matters, say something different
Something that sets the whole world on its ear
I wanna do something better with the time I've been given
I wanna try to touch a few hearts in this life
And leave nothing less than something that says ?I was here?

And I know that I, I will do more than just pass through this life
I'll leave nothing less than something that says ?I was here?
I was here.
